Kyaik Hti Yoe (Golden Rock)
It is located in the Kyaik yaikhto Township, Mon state, about 160 Km from Yangon. Golden Rock Pagoda stands on a golden slide boulder, precariously perched on the edge of the hill over 1100 m above sea level. It is an up-hill climb of 11 Km from Kinpun base camp. It is an enchanting journey in to the land of fantasy. There is also steep winding road for four wheel drive cars from the base camp to the nearest point of the pagoda. Kyaik Htiyo comes from the word Kyaik Hti Yoe, which means the pagoda, carried on the hermit head and is one of the wonders in Myanmar. There are many legends about the Pagoda and the nats or spirits and believed to enshrine three scared strengths of Buddha’s hair. Journey to Kyaik Hti Yoe (Golden Rock) pagoda is adventurous trekking which is pleasant, joyful and remarkable.
Kyaikhtiyo pagoda is situated in Thahton district, Kyaikhto Township. The pagoda is accessible by train or by car via Bago.
