Inle Lake
Inlay Lake is the Jewel and prime attraction of Shan state and also a main tourist destination of Myanmar. It is about 900 meters above sea level, sheltered among the hazy blue mountains of 1524 meter with 22.4 Km in length and 10.2 Km in width and 30 Km South of Taunggyi. At the Northern end of the lake is Nyaung Shwe, a small town which stands as a gate way to the Inlay Lake. It is studded with floating islands and colorful floating markets. Ywama, the site of every five days floating market and the Inlay Khaungdaing Spa are the places to be visited. Inthas, the native dwellers of Inlay are famous for their unique way of rowing with one leg or one leg rowers. Inlay silk weaving is popular and handlooms silk weaving can be studied at Inpaw-Khon village. Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda festival is celebrated once a year in October and the traditional unique one leg rowers’ boat race is most fascinating event of the festival. Inlay has a temperature of 25’C at day and 15’C at night from November to January and rest of the year is about 30’C at day and 20’C at night.
