Kalaw
Kalaw is a popular hill station located 1400 meters above sea-level and 70 Km of Taunggyi. Weather is cool and pleasant due to high mountain plateau, pine trees, flowers and ever green forest around the town. There are several villages of Palaung tribes residing in the surrounding areas. Tazaungdaing lighting festival is very popular among the Palaung community. They celebrate the festival lights rising paper balloons up into the sky and wearing beautiful traditional costumes. Main income of these people are planting Thanaq-hpeq; kind of leaf for fabrication of cheroots, plantation of paddy and vegetables in valleys. Tea and coffee plantations are on the hill slopes. Kalaw is a suitable place for trekking activities.
