The Gokteik viaduct on the way to Lashio
The Gokteik Bridge, a structure of steel on the railway line to Lashio constructed in1901 to 1013, by an American Company, Pennsylvania and Maryland Bridge Construction. It is 2260 ft. long and 320 ft high above a deep ragged stone rock valley which is 550 ft. high above the small river that flow under the rock. It is a great “Railway Bizarre” called viaduct, a monster sliver geometry in all ragged rock and jungle. |
