Maung Ma Kan
Maung Ma Kan is a seaside village 10 miles from Dawei capital of Taninthayi Division, in the costal region of southern Myanmar. Maung Ma Kan Beach depends on the native fisherman and their fishing at the costal line and the sea. Fishing is the traditional occupation of the people residing around this area. All members in the fisherman family take part in fishing happily and skillfully for their living. Fishermen with full ration for 2-3 days go into the sea for deep sea fishing, in a small wooden boat. This boat is made with wood planks and small wooden sticks instead of iron nail or steel and the size is 18 feet long. The fishermen go out to open sea within 10 nautical miles depending on the weather. These fisher men are mostly correct in predicting the weather condition; due to their experiences in sea fishing Maung Ma Kan is more popular for fishing rather than the beach as it not a clean like other beaches.
