Pa-an
Pa-an, the capital of Kayin state, and elongated area lying to the Southeast running from Northwest with 11,731 sq. miles. There are two types of Kayin residing in hill and plain and are different in language and physical features. There are many groups of ethnic Kayin, Sagaw Kayin being majority and Po Kayin second largest group. They have their own language literature and culture and their religion being Buddhist, Christian and some animists. There are almost all Myanmar nationals Bamar, Kayin, Kachin, Chin, Mon and Rakhine are residing in Kyain state. Places of interest in Kayin are Shwe Yin Myaw Pagoda, Shwehtisaung Pagoda, Myat Saw Nyi Naung Pagoda and Bayint Nyi Sacred Cave.
Kayin Done dance is the most attractive and beautiful traditional art performed in all religious social and culture functions. It is a lively and exciting dance usually performed at the harvest festivals will remain as Kayin traditional dance for life. Zwegabin Hill and the Pagoda on the summit are the demesnes of the Kayin state. Kayin people are simple honest and loyal. Agriculture is the main livelihood of Kayin people and fishery, as there are several rivers, lakes and ponds in the state.
