Taunggyi
Taunggyi means “Huge Mountain”; the capital city of the Shan State, located in the Eastern part of Myanmar is 1430 meters above sea-level. It is a hill station with cool and pleasant weather all the year. It is surrounded with high mountains situated on high plateau and colorful with lovely flowers, pine trees and green orchard. There are religious buildings, pagodas and beautiful parks. The market on every fifth day is crowded with ethnic minorities, mostly Shan in their traditional dresses. One can reach Taunggyi from Yangon to Heho by regular flights then by car. Express bus services from Yangon and Mandalay are available daily. There are International standard hotels, motels and guest houses for accommodation. Taunggyi is an ideal destination for tourists especially in summer time.
