Thipaw
It is an ancient capital of a Shan principality of the same name which goes back to year 58 BC and said to be founded by Sao Hkun Hkan Saw fourth son of Sawbwar (Saohpa) Sao Hkun Lai of Mong Mao and Myanmar (Burma) people pronounce the name as Thipaw. The last King of Myanmar, king Thibaw (1875AD) got his name from this town. Palace of the Sawbwar, old wooden traditional Haw was at the Northern end of the city and the main pagoda. Hsipaw has large local market, cinema, guest houses and restaurants near the bus stand.
